Palacio de Bornos La Caprichosa 2024, Best Vintage White Wine in “The Magnificent 11 2026” by the Vivir el Vino Guide
Palacio de Bornos La Caprichosa 2024 has been recognized as Best Vintage White Wine in the prestigious selection Los 11 Magníficos 2026 (The Magnificent 11) by the Vivir el Vino 365 Vinos al Año guide, consolidating its position as one of Spain's most outstanding white wines.
The Vivir el Vino Guide, which celebrates its 25th edition in 2026, selects 365 excellent wines each year from more than 2,000 samples submitted by wineries throughout Spain. The evaluation is carried out through blind tastings, led by its panel of experts and aimed exclusively at assessing the quality of the wines, thus guaranteeing an objective and impartial process.
The final tasting is the decisive step in selecting Los 11 Magníficosa selection that distinguishes the most outstanding wine projects of the year in different categories, from reds and sparkling wines to white wines for aging and special productions. The awards were presented during the traditional gala held at the Teatro Alcázar in Madrid, a landmark event for the wine sector that brought together winemakers, sommeliers, and the specialized press.
In this context, La Caprichosa 2024 has been recognized as a Magnificent Vintage White Wine, placing it alongside other great references in Spanish viticulture and reaffirming its relevance on the national scene. La Caprichosa is made with Verdejo grapes from the most special vineyard at Palacio de Bornos, planted in bush vines on low-fertility gravelly soils with more than 30 years of winegrowing tradition. The harvest is entirely manual, with a double selection process that guarantees only the best bunches make it to the winery.
After destemming, the grapes undergo a long pre-fermentation maceration at low temperature, which allows for a high-quality must to be obtained. Slow, controlled fermentation in stainless steel, together with six months of aging on lees with periodic stirring, gives the wine structure, texture, and silky smoothness.
